Average Chapter Size

The charts below show the average chapter size for each Greek council from Fall 2007 to Winter 2014. The College Panhellenic Council average chapter size ranges from the mid-30s to the mid-40s. The Interfraternity Council average chapter size ranges from the mid-20s to the mid-30s. The National Pan-Hellenic Council average chapter size ranges from 5 to 10 members.

The National Pan-Hellenic Council

The purpose of this council shall be to foster cooperative action of its member in dealing with matter of mutual concern. The NPHC at EMU also promotes the well-being of its affiliate fraternity and sorority members by providing leadership opportunities, academic support and community service to EMU and the greater Washtenaw County Area. The NPHC at EMU is the local governing body for the fraternities and sororities affiliated with the National Pan-Hellenic Council, incorporated. It is comprised of four student leaders who fill the following positions: President, Vice President of Civic Engagements and Programming, Vice President of Internal Affairs, Vice President of Standards and Scholarship. At EMU, the NPHC represents 7 active fraternity and sorority chapters.

College Panhellenic Council

The College Panhellenic Council is the local governing body for the sororities affiliated with the National Panhellenic Conference at EMU. The executive board is comprised of six elected leaders from various sororities who fill the following positions: President, Executive Vice President, Vice President of Membership, Vice President of Education, Vice President of Internal Affairs, and Vice President of External Affairs. At EMU, CPC represents 8 active chapters.

The National Panhellenic Conference Creed is as follows:

We, as Undergraduate Members of women’s fraternities, stand for good scholarship, for guarding of good health, 
for maintenance of fine standards, and for serving, to the best of our ability, our college community. Cooperation for furthering fraternity life, in harmony with its best possibilities, is the ideal that shall guide our fraternity activities.

We, as Fraternity Women, stand for service through the development of character inspired by the close contact 
and deep friendship of individual fraternity and Panhellenic life. The opportunity for wide and wise human service, through mutual respect and helpfulness, is the tenet by which we strive to live.

The Interfraternity Council

The Interfraternity Council is the local governing body for the fraternities affiliated with the North-American Interfraternity Conference at EMU. The executive board is comprised of six elected leaders from various fraternities who fill the following positions: President, Executive Vice President, Vice President of Membership, Vice President of Education, Vice President of Internal Affairs, and Vice President of External Affairs. At EMU, the IFC represents 6 active chapters.

The IFC creed is as follows:

We, the Interfraternity Council, exist to promote the shared interests and values of our member fraternities: leadership, service, brotherhood, and scholarship. We believe in Fraternity and that the shared values of Fraternity drive the IFC to create better communities, better chapters, and better men.

We work to advance the academic mission of the host institution, to enable fraternal organizations to grow and thrive through collaboration and teamwork, to provide an outlet for self-governance and accountability, and to model and teach ethical leadership. In a spirit of mutual support and betterment, we, the men of the Interfraternity Council, pledge to elevate the Ritual and the values of the member organizations.
